Usual Suspects

Setting: While working on the computer Wednesday morning I turned to the sound of a box being set down on the table behind me to discover that not only did the box contain the ever so innocent and cute roly poly bugs, but that there were numerous punctures in the box as well. As the only ones home, Nathan, Elsie, and myself, I had a fifty-fifty chance to figure out the culprit.

Suspects: Nathan, 5 years old and Elsie, 3 years old.
(Looks can be deceiving.)

As I went searching through the house I located three possible weapons.

Weapons: black ball point pen, nail, small handled screwdriver.

As I put the clues together-punctured board, roly polies, pen, nail or screwdriver, I began to formulate a picture in my mind which brought me closer to finding the guilty suspect.

After what seemed like hours and countless questions Nathan pleaded that using his logical thinking, at the time, he needed to have an object, bingo game box, to hold his pets in and to be humane to all living things made breathing pockets, on both the top and bottom of the box, with the screw driver.
When all was said and done the roly polies were transferred to the perfect object intended just for them, the mop bucket.
