After Garrett received his Arrow of Light in Weblos we started working on his Scout Merit Badges. One of them he choose was to provide four hours of volunteer sevice at a library. For liability purposes he could only clean the covers of books, but it was worth the effort and a good experience for him.

We were able to go to the Wild Animal Park during an educational week of bugs and insects. We were able to paricipate in a lady bug release event. About 200 ladybugs every two hours were released. Nathan was brave enough to touch a hissing cockroach. There were fake spider webs and spiders throughout the park walk way. And as we were leaving the park the kids were able to learn a fun song about spiders and snake as well as learn some sign language to go with the lyrics.

Latest Field trip to Legoland. Nathan and his friend, Cameron, spent at least 20 min. checking out the mini Star Wars figurines and set-ups. It is a new feature at legoland and definitely a hit with our crew. They have a few scenes set up from each episode.

U.S.S. Midway- I recommend anyone visiting Sand Diego to take a tour.

I have never been on so many field trips before and there are yet more to come. Kayla is taking a trip to the pier this Tuesday, Garrett is taking a tour of the middle school next week as well as a boat ride to investigate the biological and physical properties of our coastal waters. Whew!! The good thing about being a volunteer in the classroom is being able to have first dibs on which fields trips you would like to go on :)
